today i awoke to the news that troubled soul singer amy winehouse had joined the infamous doorlist of the 27 club. while her passing may not come as a complete surprise it definitely comes with great sadness. her songs got us through heartbreak and her trademark wing tipped liner and sailor sleeves sparked a style revolution.
when you type the words amy winehouse into google images it's hard to find the calm before the storm but perhaps we can just remember her at her best...

as the fog rolls into melbourne town my mind has clouded over with thoughts of an island getaway... to say that bali's on my mind is an understatement... i am literally counting down the minutes until my tax refund clears... don't mind me i'm just filling up my mental carry on with zimmermanns spring summer collection...

recently i've had the misfortune of suffering mega migraine attacks and apparently some of my triggers are unfortunate office lighting and my beloved computer screen. while i can't get by without my mac i can invest in some geek chic anti fatigue glasses... who says there isn't an upside to everything, now I have an excuse to get my geek on!

"I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best."
"Crying is for plain women. Pretty women go shopping."
"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."
Mr Oscar Wilde
At this point my wardrobe is starting to rival that of johnny cash's and that got me thinking.
i tend to keep buying the same pieces over and over again. there's the love of leather, the search for the perfect oversized white tee, the little black everything, all that glitters AND is gold, chambray shirts, ankle wedges and leopard print to the point where i could actually wear an entire outfit head to toe and lurk about calling myself the 'ca'razy jungle cat lady'...
then there's my make up... lashes coated in layers of the blackest black mascara, Nars orgasm set to blush, and just to mix it up i like to switch between a winged liner with a nude lip and a gold dust lid with a red lip... very chamaeleonesque of me!
these are my staples, my auto pilot go to gals but before i turn into that old lady at the bus stop with the beehive and drawn on eyebrows i have consciously decided to try and buy more colour hence the pops of neon pinks and electric blues, subtle greys and lipstick reds and hold onto your hats ladies because i even bought a hot pink lippie to throw a real spanner in the works...
the important bits: topshop leopard coat, t by alexander wang white tee, rumi neely from fashiontoast, asos leopard belt, t by alexander wang ruched long sleeve dress, bec&bridge cross my heart skirt, friend of mine wedges, one teaspoon chambray shirt, house of baulch boxy chain necklace.
thefrontrow 'leatherly love' postwell thank god it's friday is dragging just a little bit for me hence my avoidance of work but look what i found on my latest little fashion fishing expedition thefrontrow.com.au which has very nicely introduced me to my latest fashion crush Fashion Editor for Harpers Bazaar Australia, Christine Centenera in their born to be stylish post.
quite serendipitous when you consider i was simultaneously tapping away at my next post about my own style staples which seem to bare a striking resemblance to Centenera's.
